  19. I'm using the numeric paging script from
  20. ftp://kermit.columbia.edu/kermit/scripts/ckermit/numpage to
  21. dial numeric pagers. The call, however, rarely completes on the first
  22. dial. Generally it retries 3-5
  23. times before the page completes. I've tried this on two different
  24. (similarly configured) machines,
  25. with the same result.

  27. I'm running RedHat Linux 6.2, using an external USR modem. The script
  28. detects that the modem is
  29. capable of using the '@' (quiet) command and issues a dialing string
  30. such as
  31. ATD18009999999@9999#;
  32.  
  33. Anyone have a hint as to what the problem might be?
